Yuanshan Su

Yuanshan Su is an illustrator who loves working with colour, building stories through images, and developing strong visual concepts. She enjoys exploring texture in digital painting, using it to add feeling and atmosphere to their work. Much of her inspiration comes from reading and observing small, everyday moments. Outside of drawing, she spends time immersed in fiction, which often sparks new creative directions. She is especially drawn to projects that tell quiet, emotional stories through thoughtful visuals.

Phantom of the Opera Illustration Series

This series of seven large illustrations and seven smaller spot images reimagines The Phantom of the Opera through a visual storytelling lens. Created digitally, the project focuses on mood, drama, and emotional pacing, with special attention to the use of texture to enhance atmosphere. Each piece captures a key moment in the story, using lighting, colour, and surface detail to guide the viewer through the Phantom’s haunting world.

Blissbites

A fruit-flavoured lollipop brand that blends bold graphic design with playful symbolism. The branding focuses on strong shape language and element-based design, using symbols inspired by runes (historical alphabet characters) to create a sense of mystery and hidden fortune. The five flavours—apple, grape, lemon, lychee, and peach—feature an opaque package with vibrant colour schemes and graphic elements that visually reflect the flavour’s mood. The project includes logo design, flavour-based packaging, a set of four postcards, and a short promotional trailer, all tied together by a visual system rooted in pattern, shape, and symbolic storytelling.

The Nightingale and the Rose

An illustrated picture book based on Oscar Wilde’s The Nightingale and the Rose. Poetic visuals and symbolic storytelling explore the themes of love, sacrifice, and beauty. Each page is carefully composed to express mood and emotion, using delicate colour palettes and visual metaphors. The illustrations slow the reader down, inviting reflection through pacing and quiet moments. The project includes forty full-page illustrations and a fully designed cover.
