Ruixuan Li

Ruixuan Li (@037069ray) is a young illustrator and visual storyteller dedicated to constructing multidimensional, transmedia visual landscapes. His practice thrives at the intersection of emotive narrative and disciplined information design, seeking a balance between artistic expression and functional clarity. Inspired by the synergy of sci-fi aesthetics and graphic satire, Li leverages a collaborative 2D and 3D workflow to conceptualize original story IPs, aiming to push the boundaries of visual storytelling across comics, motion graphics, and emerging multimedia platforms.

A conceptual theatre poster exploring the dark psyche of Shakespeare’s Macbeth. Using symbolic imagery and a high-contrast visual approach, the design distills themes of fate and power into a bold, dramatic narrative.

Bright Hearts

An editorial illustration for the novel Bright Hearts. Juxtaposing beauty and unease through botanical imagery, the design conveys an underlying sense of psychological tension and atmospheric horror.

Space of Sound

An experimental illustration that explores the relationship between sound and space through abstract visual environments. Translating the emotional resonance of music into imagery, it functions as a cohesive visual identity system for vinyl packaging and digital streaming.

Mapping the Plague

An infographic exploring the impact of the Black Death on medieval Europe. Through a dark, high-contrast visual language and historically inspired imagery, the design communicates the scale, transmission, and consequences of the pandemic in a clear and engaging way.

Thangka: Pha Trelgen Changchup Sempa


A reinterpretation of Tibetan thangka traditions through a mythological narrative about human evolution. Using symbolic imagery and spiritual themes, the work bridges cultural heritage and contemporary visual storytelling.

Infection

A fan-made continuation inspired by the anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. Expanding the story beyond season two, Infection explores themes of conflict, legacy, and survival through world-building and mecha-driven visual storytelling.

Comic Diary

An autobiographical series capturing the humour and nuances of campus life at Sheridan College. Through concise, character-driven narratives, the comic transforms everyday moments into engaging visual stories while serving as a personal archive and an exploration of storytelling.
