She/Her

Kat Rintoul is an illustrator inspired by fantastical elements in video games, movies, TV shows, and literature, such as books and webcomics. She loves experimenting with colour and texture, and her rendering adds a dreamy look to her art. With her vivid colour palettes and passion for narrative storytelling, she evokes a sense of wonder and connection with her viewers.

How I Grew Up with Selective Mutism

A series of eighteen illustrations on the experience of growing up with selective mutism, a mental disorder that stems from anxiety. A limited colour palette, simplistic style, and character designs keep viewers invested in the story. This project is intended for use as an Instagram carousel that will educate viewers on selective mutism and how to treat kids who may have this or related mental health disorders.

Character Splash Art

Four splash arts of characters for a potential video game based on storytelling, elemental reaction combat, and open-world exploration. Each character, a fusion of animals and fantasy creatures, represents and controls one of the elements.

Fleeting Moment

A black-and-white webcomic that follows the perspective of a young woman who encounters a stranger on the street. This bittersweet story touches on reluctance, regret, human connection, and wondering what could have been.
