Karen Wang
Karen is a Chinese-Canadian illustrator from Calgary, Alberta. She enjoys telling stories through lively characters and bright colours. She sees herself working mainly in the publishing and surface design fields but loves anything in the narrative or educational realm.
In her spare time, she likes to read, hang out with her cat, and participate in crafty hobbies such as crocheting and sewing.
The Balding Sunflower
A whimsical children’s book that shows the importance of friendship and generosity. The story follows a little sunflower ballerina as she journeys through the forest while helping the distressed critters she meets.
Endangered Species of China
A collection of five posters depicting species at risk that are endemic to China. Each piece educates the viewer about the featured animal’s appearance, habitat and importance to their environment.

Biomes of Canada
A surface design project inspired by the life in each of Canada’s biomes. Each region is linked to a product category: grasslands are clothing, the boreal forest is bedding, the desert is kitchenware, the tundra is wall art, and the ocean is school supplies.
