She/They

Jo is a Southern Ontario-based illustrator who is passionate about creating character-based illustrations. Her images integrate the whimsy and playful atmosphere of classic fantasy films with the elegance of Art Nouveau stylings. Jo has a passion for narrative illustration and hopes to publish her own webcomic.

Celestial Bodies

A set of charmingly painted posters inspired by the heavenly bodies and phenomena that span our universe. From simple comets to devouring black holes, each piece contains carefully designed characters to personify each body.

Yes, We Are Fairies

The desire for simple and discrete pride images was the goal for these posters. Using the colours of the respective pride flags of the LGBT community, each character subtly hints at their true nature. The word “fairy” has been used to insult many people in the community, so reclaiming it for the character design felt like a fitting decision. Jo decided to use her girlfriend as the muse for the bisexual fairy. She hopes to one day include more posters based on pride flags from the wider LGBTQIA+ community.

Midsummer Night’s Dream

An illustration based on the Shakespeare play. Pulling from the psychedelic imagery of late 1960s posters and animated films, this classic story gets a fresh twist.

Trip to Toronto

Inspired by a trip to the Art Gallery of Ontario and the abundance of pigeons that live in the city. A simple swap of humans for birds brings a touch of absurdity to this set of travel postcards.
