Emily Côté
Hello everyone! My name is Emily Côté and I am an illustrator currently based in Toronto. I graduated the Sheridan Illustration program in 2021. Ever since graduating, I have done a variety of illustration projects, but what I’ve enjoyed the most is children’s books. I love being able to tell stories – whether they are my own stories or those of others. It is challenging and exciting to design characters and environments which bring the stories to life. Thanks for dropping by and please enjoy this selection of a few of my favourite children’s book illustrations.
Wise Like a Beaver
Page from “Wise Like a Beaver”, a children’s book that I wrote and illustrated. The page text reads: “The beaver parents teach the baby beaver, too. The mom beaver shows her baby where to find food. They use their hand-like front paws to collect some plants. Beavers only eat plants and tree bark.”

Sugarbush
Page from “Sugarbush”, a children’s book that I illustrated. This book is an Indigenous children’s book for Chapter One Canada and describes the experience of a young girl and her parents as they go to the sugar shack to make maple syrup as they do every year.

Making Pie at the Fall Festival
Page from “Making Pie at the Fall Festival”, a children’s book that I illustrated. This book is an Indigenous children’s book about a girl and her grandmother making a pie at their community’s fall festival. With a little help from others, they are able to make some delicious apple pies!
