Andrea Vissepo is a Puerto Rican illustrator based in Toronto who specializes in editorial and narrative art. Using a multidisciplinary approach, her illustrations are created with textures and brushes rendered in traditional media, then assembled in digital applications. The multidisciplinary approach, combined with effective visual communication, results in polished illustrations that move, inspire, and educate the target audience about nature, culture, and current events. When she is not illustrating, Andrea enjoys reading or taking nature walks.

Hideously Endangered

Hideously Endangered shines a spotlight on critically endangered animals that do not receive the same attention, funding, and protection as their conventionally attractive counterparts. This project challenges the unintentional empathy bias that we humans employ when we decide which species gets saved and showcased. The project features four animals in the style of book illustrations: the purple frog, the California condor, the aye-aye, and the gharial.

Book Covers for Magical Realism Classics

Book covers from four different authors presented as a cohesive set. In magical realism, emotion is often embedded within the narrative rather than directly signalled. These covers reflect the same emotions and the themes that sprout from each work.

Tarot Cards

A set of tarot cards inspired by the flora and fauna of Puerto Rico. Every card embodies a challenge, a lesson, and a story, each reflected in a specific animal, plant, or environment found in Puerto Rico.
