Selina Lang is an illustrator based in Canada, originally from Beijing. Her work focuses on narrative illustration, often inspired by animals, personal experiences, and everyday moments. She enjoys creating vibrant, story-driven images with strong composition and expressive use of colour.
Her practice explores themes of observation, memory, and emotional connection, often combining playful visuals with subtle storytelling. She is particularly interested in developing illustrations for products, publishing, and visual storytelling.
Outside of illustration, she enjoys observing nature and collecting visual references from daily life, which often inform her creative process.
Sport Day
This illustrated picture book follows a small mouse competing in a series of sports events, where he repeatedly fails and feels discouraged. Just as he is about to give up, he joins a final balance-based event that suits his abilities and ultimately succeeds. The story explores themes of perseverance, self-worth, and the recognition of individual strengths, encouraging viewers to embrace their differences and not give up easily.
