Debbie Kaye Tamarra
Debbie Kaye is an illustrator and designer based in the Greater Toronto Area. She enjoys telling stories through the manipulation of shape, combining digital techniques with cut paper. Taking inspiration from the natural patterns of flora and fauna, she hopes to evoke a sense of tranquillity in her work, akin to that found in nature. When she’s not creating, she enjoys playing video games, eating good food, and watching documentaries about nature and space.
Aftertaste
An illustrated compilation of poems written by various authors who use food as a motif to address the themes of loss and grief.
Alice in Wonderland Stationery Set
A series of pattern designs for a stationery set based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. Using surface pattern design as a medium for storytelling, each product showcases a different chapter of the novel.
There Will Come Soft Rains
A pop-up book adapted from Ray Bradbury’s short story of the same name. The story, set in a post-apocalyptic world, centres on a fully automated house that continues to assist its inhabitants’ daily routines despite remaining unoccupied long after their passing.
The Sundial Garden
A series of spot illustrations for Samantha Shannon’s novel, The Priory of an Orange Tree. Done in a way reminiscent of a shadow box, shapes are cut out from the foreground of the scenes, positioning the viewer as a looming observer of the happenings in the garden.
