Tyler Hargreaves
Tyler Hargreaves (they/he) is a Burlington-based illustrator who loves telling stories, seeking knowledge and evoking feeling within their art. When not drawing, they can be found camping, practicing archery and catering to the whims of two very fussy cats. Tyler loves to use the natural world, both flora and fauna, as a basis for the stories they craft, inspiring immersion and emotion into the worlds he creates. Tyler especially enjoys working in limited colour palettes and with ‘silent’ comics, encouraging their audience to linger with the contents and come to their own conclusions.
Wisp
For folklore enthusiasts and lovers of ambiguous endings, this animatic, storyboard and logo design tell the tale of the dangers of following whimsy blindly. Inspired by the folklore of the Will O’ Wisp, a trickster spirit sometimes turned malevolent.

A Loud Silence
In this visual essay based on a dream, a fox and its companion flee an unknown pursuer who chases them relentlessly. The work challenges readers to accept loss in the face of growth, the beauty in inevitability, and the small things worth the recognition we give them. This project uses animals to soften an otherwise relatable story and would lend well to those seeking advocacy or introducing hard conversations in a subtle and thought-provoking way.
Pachycephalosaurus Study
A sculpted 3D model study completed in Blender, using Zbrush and Substance Painter to texturize and rig for movement. This project brought the challenge of learning how to manipulate 3D environments, build assets and combine them to create a short movement demonstrating the model in an environment. This serves as a passion project that defines a lifelong interest in dinosaurs and the growing field of Paleoart.

A Space to Grow
A silent limited palette comic about an American Ginseng searching for a place to grow amidst a crowded, overgrown nursery. This comic highlights some of the specific needs of the American Ginseng, an endangered plant that is illegal to grow on your own, such as the need for less light, plenty of water and space free from the invasive roots of other plants. Ideal for the activist or those wanting to share information in a more fun narrative-based way!
